Artist Information

Grew up in Cambridge and was inspired by surrounding scenery – sees her work as a creative response to her surroundings.

Artist mother encouraged her and was the prime mover in her artistic development.

Degree from the University of York then immediately pursued a career as an artist.

Paints intuitively, using an array of tools including brushes, sponges, palette knives and even her hands.

Oils are her main medium, but uses spray paint, metallic acrylic paints and inks to add interest and texture on occasion.

Influenced by Turner and Matisse, the expressive style and vivid palette of Joanne Corno, David Downton’s fashion illustrations.

It is the grouping of colours in a scene that initially attracts her and this visual harmony compels her to create her own image in response.

ANNA GAMMANS’

Uniquely vibrant and emotional landscapes

Creative reconstructions of the landscape.

Spontaneous and energetic painter which impacts of lively nature of her finished work.

Captures the beauty and dynamism of stunning harbour locations bathed by vivid sunsets.

“Exploding skies” release a whole spectrum of radiant and dramatic colours.

Visual harmony.

Vibrant portrayals of the energy and emotion of the environment

Strives to balance the concept of free expression with the more formal elements of composition and line.

A positive and passionate person who believes that her work communicates these elements of her personality.

“I am generally quite transparent in terms of my emotions and I think that my landscapes offer a sense of this emotional honesty. They are bold images which offer a unique way of seeing things in both their simplicity and their complexity.

The opportunity to influence how people engage with the world and to communicate with them in this way, is a truly amazing experience for me as an artist.”
