My initial passion for the arts was focused on theatre. I studied at Sylvia Young’s Theatre School and went on to secure several acting roles in theatre, on television, and even a season in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. During this time, I developed a deep interest in painting, leading me to pursue a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art. After graduating, I became the Artist in Residence at a North London art gallery, where regular exhibitions helped me build a loyal following of art collectors. Much of the inspiration for my work stems from my travels across Europe.
When starting a piece, I typically begin with a composition drawn from a photograph or sketch, focusing on shapes and spaces that feel intuitively right. I then work on canvas using various collected materials—paper, fabric, and anything that offers an intriguing texture or color—to recreate the composition. For example, if a wall surface appears weathered and sunbaked, I select materials that reflect that quality. This collage forms the backbone of the painting and from there, I usually have a clear sense of the final direction. I then complete the piece using different paints and colors. The end result can range from highly abstract to more literal representations.
